Enclosed Transportation

Enclosed Auto Transport

Maximum protection for vehicles that can't take any risk — classics, exotics, luxury cars, and anything you'd rather not expose to the open road.

What Is Enclosed Transport?

Enclosed transport moves your vehicle inside a fully covered trailer, shielded from rain, road debris, dust, and prying eyes. It's the standard choice for collector cars, exotic and luxury vehicles, and any shipment where the owner wants zero exposure to the elements — the same method used to move vehicles to and from auto shows and auctions.

Enclosed vs. Open: What's the Real Difference?

Functionally, both methods secure your vehicle with professional tie-downs and include a signed condition inspection at pickup and delivery. The difference is the trailer itself: enclosed trailers carry fewer vehicles per trip and cost more to operate, which is reflected in the price — typically a premium over open transport for the same route. What you're paying for is protection and, often, additional handling care suited to higher-value vehicles.

When to Choose Enclosed Transport

  • Classic, vintage, or collector vehicles
  • Exotic or luxury cars with low ground clearance or sensitive trim
  • Vehicles being delivered to or from a show, auction, or dealership sale
  • Any shipment where weather or road debris exposure is not acceptable

What Affects the Price

Distance and vehicle size still matter, but enclosed transport pricing is driven mainly by trailer availability on your route — enclosed carriers are a smaller pool than open carriers, so lead time and price can vary more by region.

Is enclosed transport worth the extra cost?

For a daily driver, usually not — open transport is safe and far more common. For a collector, exotic, or high-value vehicle, the added protection is generally considered worth it.

Do enclosed trailers have lift-gates for low vehicles?

Many do — if your vehicle has low ground clearance, mention it when you submit your shipment so we can match you with a carrier equipped for it.
